We are talking about, one of the most legendary iPads that have ever came out. It’s none other than the iPad Air 2, second generation. We would love to mention here that we have made a video with our iPad Air 1 just two days ago. We love this whole genre of iPads, and we think the air line-up was a really important line up for sure. It’s like a combo between very premium feeling iPads and coming at a pretty reasonable price tag.

We are excited for the iPad air 5 that’s about to come out now. iPad air 2 came in 2014, the same year as the iPhone 6. It had the same chipset as the iPhone 6 but this iPad is still supported with software. Our iPad is running iPad OS 15 which is so crazy to think about because these iPads are kind of outdated. These are some of the oldest supported devices from apple. Stand-alone iPads, which is so crazy.

Starting off with the body of the iPad Air 2, the one thing about this is that it still doesn’t look old. It still has a gesture-based design with iPad OS which is really impressive. Although it has the home button but that panel, 9.7 inch IPS, is still pretty good looking. When you compare this panel to iPad 9th generation. For sure, the ninth generation is much better but this is still a pretty decent-looking panel. First generation iPad air is also a pretty good panel too, although this one is much better than that one.

You have a front-facing camera, on the bottom you have the lightning port and you have a headphone jack which is really cool. On the back of this iPad, you have a full aluminum back which has always looked amazing on these iPads. This is a very premium feeling device you are not going to pick up this iPad and feel like it’s super slow or that it’s ugly. Internally, there are some other things that kind of are a little weirder about this iPad. But we think with the exterior the way it looks and the way it still holds up, we are a big fan of this iPad in 2022 in terms of the build quality.

It’s turning eight years old, this year which is so crazy now. In terms of the camera, it has a single camera on the back and one of the front. We have that eight-megapixel standard lens on the back and on the front we have that 1.2-megapixel standard lens as well. Now you can do 1080p on the back of this camera. You can do 720p on the front of this camera if you’re planning on using an iPad for facetime calls and video calls. This isn’t that bad but even like front-facing camera the Macbook on M1 wasn’t even better than this one.

Apple iPad Air 2 Camera Good or Bad

The camera is not really that nice so if you’re somebody who’s planning on making videos, or you’re planning on doing some really heavier intensive things, this is not the right choice. If you’re a professional and you’re trying to look as great as you can on a front-facing camera or a back-facing camera you are much better off using upgraded versions than this type of camera.

It’s really not that great but if you are somebody who just needs to quickly you know jump in and you know get a camera in and that’s it then i guess this isn’t that bad. It would not be our first choice for sure so in terms of the camera setup that pretty much covers it up.

Why Apple iPad Air 2 is Getting Software Updates

It’s pretty much an easy explanation now in terms of longevity. This is where this iPad pretty much shined at you know this iPad for some reason. We think the reason it just kept getting software support from apple or it just kept going and going theoretically, it probably should have stopped at iPad OS 12 when the iPhone 6 stopped. Although, this thing does have the a8x chip which is a little bit better than the a8 chip that was in the iPhone 6.

It’s still extremely crazy that this iPad still kept getting support and it’s still pretty popular. If you are reading this this means that some people are still interested in it. Every year people are searching and read about the iPad Air 2, which is so crazy that means the iPad air 2 is probably still used by a lot of people. That’s maybe a logical reason, why this iPad got so many software updates. It also was one of the first iPads to bring two gigabytes of ram. That’s also a pretty big deal with this iPad 2. The iPad Pro versions at the time were really good but this one longevity wise it had a huge great pass.

We think this iPad was an amazing iPad because of its past but looking at the future it’s really not going to be lasting too much longer. We believe that this iPad is going to be ending off with iPad OS 15 so it’s not going to be getting iPad OS 16. Considering, 15 was a very small update, we are pretty sure we’re going to be getting security updates. Probably stabilizing these devices in the next coming months and years. These iPads were amazing at one point we recommend buying them because of the software experience.

Now moving on to the performance side of things this is also another really important thing to keep in mind. This iPad has that appellate extra inside of it with two gigabytes of ram. this is a good performing. When you have an iPad like the iPad air 2 you’re already kind of getting things done because it has a good speed to complete the tasks because it has that two gigabytes of ram. When you’re getting an iPad like the iPad air 2 at this age it is a great experience. Normally people don’t use this iPad on an everyday basis and the main reason for that is because they have more devices available.

If you’re doing like light tasks, like you’re just you know typing notes and you’re going from one app to the other you are going to have a better experience. But if you’re especially doing some heavier intensive games and apps it’s also not going to be that great of an experience.
